Putney Leisure Centre's Pool: Size & Depth

  • The swimming pool is a 12-metre indoor heated swimming pool
  • Water temperature is set at 31.5°C throughout the year, perfectly nice and warm for little ones.
  • The pool is regularly tested to make sure the appropriate standards of hygiene are being maintained.
  • The shallow end is 0.8 metres deep and the max depth is 0.9 meters. At this depth, most three-year-olds can touch the bottom of the pool making it an ideal place for pre-schoolers to begin their learn-to-swim journey.
Being able to reach the bottom enables them to confidently enjoy the water. Putney Leisure Centre's teaching swimming pool has two fun slides too. Many London pools do not have this facility. You don't need to bring any teaching equipment with you to our lessons. We have all the teaching aids that we need such as toys, mats, floats and noodles.

There are spacious changing rooms for boys/men and girls/ladies and family changing rooms with baby changing boards and nappy bins. Clients have access to plenty of warm showers and toilets. The changing area also has lockers (you need to lock them with padlocks) but, post-coronavirus pandemic, we discourage people from using the lockers to reduce the touch points. If you must use a locker, please bring your own antiseptic wipes and clean the lockers before and after use. Padlocks for lockers can be purchased from the reception but, to be on safe side bring your own. Parents and carers must leave the changing facilities in a clean condition and put any used nappies (normal nappies or water nappies) in nappy bins in the baby changing cubicles, Clients are responsible for taking all of their belongings with them home.

Observatory & Waiting Area:

Only one adult per child comes to our lessons to be in the water. Other adults can come to our Parent & Child lessons spectators and watch lessons from the poolside.
